  perianal hematoma What is a perianal hematoma? Perianal hematoma refers to a blood pool that forms in the tissue around the anus. It is usually caused by a bleeding or ruptured vein. Some perianal hemorrhages don't require treatment. Some need to be removed in an office procedure. A doctor will have to remove a blood clot if it has formed. Perianal hemorrhoids are often mistaken for prolapsed hemorrhoids. A prolapsed hemorrhoid, however, is a pooling blood inside the anus. Sometimes it appears outside the anus and then moves back in. Perianal hemorrhoids are only found outside the anus. They are never found in the anus.   What are the signs? Perianal hematomas look like a small, blue bump under the skin or a collection of blood close to the anus.
